Last night we had an awesome game between the red team and the blue team!
Red Team (visitors): Jared Scott May, Jose Ortiz, Dakota Wilson, Marquez Cooks, Jacob Abston, Collin Ruesser, Jeffery Smith, and Phil Newberry
Blue Team (home): Garrett Enfinger, Jeffrey Harvison, Douglas Wilson, Shawn Nolan, Ryan Hughes, Angelo Lupori, Eric Santose, Brooks Burns, and Cameron Spain
The game started off with a pitching duel between Jeffrey Harvison and Jose Ortiz. Jose pitched all 6 innings and only allowed one hit. He had a total of 9 strikeouts and 3 walks. Jeffrey pitched for the first three innings with 4 strike outs and 1 walk. Garret Enfinger and Ryan Hughes came in to close out the game for the the blue team.
Jose Ortiz went 2 for 3 with hits in the first and second innings. Collin Ruesser went 2 for 4 with a double in the 5th inning and a single in the 6th. Marquez Cooks and Jeff Smith also got hits for the red team in the 6th inning. Brooks Burns produced the only hit for the blue team in the bottom of the 5th inning.
One of the coolest plays of the game was made by Shawn Nolan in the 5th inning. He was filling in at second base for the red team when his own teammate (Brooks Burns) stole second base. The catcher (Jared May) tried to prevent the steal, but Brooks was safe at second. Shawn successfully played the hidden ball trick on Brooks for an unassisted out.
The first run of the game was scored by Garrett Enfinger in the bottom of the 3rd inning. In the top of the 4th, Phil Newberry scored for the red team, tying the score at 1. No other runs were scored until the top of the 6th when Jared May, Jose Ortiz, and Dakota Wilson were knocked in by Marquez Cooks for a final score of 1-4.
